The decision to introduce twice-a-year board exams was confirmed by a senior official from the Ministry of Education.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to implement a new biannual board exam system starting from the academic session 2024-25. The inaugural batch to benefit from this format will be those commencing their class X and XII studies during this period. To subscribe please click tau.id/2iy6f and access our live channel.

While the system was announced in October 2023 by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the implementation is scheduled for the 2025 board exams for Class X and XII. This transformative approach aims to alleviate stress for students by offering multiple opportunities.

The primary objective behind the biannual board exams is to provide flexibility to students. If a candidate feels adequately prepared and content with their score in the first set of exams, they can choose not to appear for the subsequent exam.

The 2025 boards are anticipated to be conducted in two sessions – the first in November-December 2024 and the second in February-March 2025. The final results and merit list will be determined based on the better of the two scores obtained by the students.

The introduction of this biannual board exam system marks a significant shift in the traditional evaluation approach, offering students more opportunities for success. Moreover, this flexibility aims to reduce the pressure associated with a single chance for assessment.
