CBSE reveals its fake accounts on Social Media

 It is crucial for the public to be able to identify misinformation and consume the correct news, especially during the exam season. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a list of 30 fake Twitter handles using the board’s name or logo. As per the official notification, the board identified these fake social media accounts which were responsible for spreading misinformation and misleading the general public.

The board has issued the list to caution the students, parents, and staff about these active Twitter handles. CBSE has also urged the public to not follow these fake accounts and not consume the information provided by these handles.

“It is hereby informed that appropriate action is being initiated against these Social Media Handles. The public is hereby cautioned and advised to follow only the official X handle of CBSE, which is @cbseindia29 for verified and authentic information pertaining to CBSE,” the Board said in an official notice.

With the aim to prevent misinformation, CBSE has released a list of nearly 30 X handles that impersonate the Board and emphasised that its only official account on X was ‘@cbseindia29’. Here are some of the accounts for the general audience to identify the fake handles.

Repercussions for Fraud

In its official announcement, CBSE has reassured the public that appropriate actions are being taken against these fraudulent social media handles. The board has also asked the public to follow only the authentic handle of the CBSE – @cbseindia29.

The board mentioned that all accurate and verified information related to CBSE will be released only on its one official handle mentioned above. The board has alerted all students, parents, and staff about the active social media accounts which are fake and trying to impersonate the board.

Just for the heads up, Class 10th Board is set to take place from February 15 to March 13, 2024 and 12th Boards will commence from February 15 to April 2, 2024.
