In an industry where nepotism and connections can play a significant role, Vijay had to rely on his talent and perseverance to secure opportunities. His journey began with small roles and auditions, where he faced rejection and uncertainty.

He continued to navigate the challenging landscape of auditions and small roles, patiently waiting for the right opportunity to showcase his skills. His struggle wasn’t limited to securing roles; it also involved proving his versatility as an actor.

The turning point in Vijay Varma’s career came with the critically acclaimed film “Gully Boy” in 2019. Directed by Zoya Akhtar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film told the story of an aspiring rapper from the streets of Mumbai.

Recently in an interview with a media house, Vijay Varma opened up about the time when he struggled with his finances. The actor said he faced tough times that lasted for years, after he started acting career in the city of dreams.

The actor recalled his early days in Mumbai and revealed how he struggled through financially tough times. Vijay gained popularity with the 2016 film Pink that featured him in a negative role. He has since then starred in several films and shows.

During the press interaction, the ‘Jaane Jaan’ actor revealed, ““I’ve really faced a lot of financial lows early on in my life in Mumbai. When I was out of work and I was trying to figure out work and where I stand, it was basically just broke because there was no work. So that was a low phase and it lasted for years. It was a ‘making ends meet’ kind of low and sometimes really really low.”

The actor further stated that there was a point where none of his films were releasing and thus his struggle to fame continued. Post his debut film Chittagong, there was a phase when movies like Monsson Shootout, that got screened at Cannes and Yaara, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, were unable to find takers/buyers.

Gradually, life took a full circle as the actor has been basking over the success of recently released Netflix thriller movie ‘Jaane Jaan’ starring Kareena Kapoor. His upcoming projects are ‘Leo’, ‘Suriya 43’, etc. along with couple of unnamed web series as well.

Beyond films, Vijay Varma has also ventured into the digital space, appearing in web series like “She”, “Lust Stories”, “Dahaad”, and “Mirzapur.” This transition reflects his adaptability and willingness to embrace the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.
