The National Testing Agency has finally declared the registration dates for the National Eligibility Test (NET) under the University Grant Commission for the year 2023. The agency has been entrusted by the UGC with the task of conducting the national-level examination, which is a Test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Registration for the respective exam for the December term has finally begun on September 30 and will be open till October 28. Entry fees can be submitted by 29th October until 11:50 PM. Interested candidates are requested to log in to the government’s official portal and register themselves.

According to the notification issued by NTA, online registration for the UGC NET 2023 registration will continue till 28 October 2023. Application fees to be paid by 29th October will run till late night. Pay the application fee by 11:50 p.m. on 29th October. After the closing of the application window, the form edit window will be open for two days from the 30th to the 31st of October till 11:50 PM.

SC/ST/PwD/Third gender: ₹325

According to NTA, Only one application can be submitted by a candidate. Strict action will be taken against those who submit multiple applications.


UGC NET 2023 examination will be conducted from the 6th of December till 22nd of December. The respective exam is conducted twice a year, the first time in June and the second in the month of December. Candidates have the liberty to choose the dates of the exam.

The exam centers will be announced in the last week of November and admit cards will be released in the first week of December. Examinations are conducted city-wise so that students do not travel longer distances just to appear for the exam. The admit card download link will be active on the official website soon. Answer keys and result dates have not been announced yet.

  2. The home page of the website will open.
  3. Click on the December 2023 Registration link.
  4. Fill in the necessary and mandatory details as requested in the form.
  5. Pay the application fees.
  6. Click on the “Submit” button to complete the application process.
  7. Download the form or take a printout of it for your future reference.

To excel in UGC NET 2023 exams, aspirants are encouraged to acquire deep knowledge of their subject matter. One of the best ways to prepare is to study the previous year’s question papers. These papers can easily be purchased from offline shops or websites. The papers provide valuable insight thus offering a clear view on topic understanding and lesson planning. This approach not only simplifies the exam preparation but also enhances your chances of succeeding in the examination.


Awarding of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. The candidates qualifying only for Assistant Professorship are not eligible to be considered for the award of JRF. Candidates who qualify for the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be for the recruitment of Assistant Professors.
