No passenger flight will operate for 45 minutes from the Ahmedabad airport on November 19 as the airspace will remain closed for an air show by the Surya Kiran team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) to celebrate the Cricket World Cup Final slated to be held at the Narendra Modi stadium.
According to a senior government official, The final is also likely to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Richard Marles. The airspace over Ahmedabad is likely to be shut from 1.25 pm to 2.10 pm on Saturday. Similarly, it was closed on Friday for the practice session.

The IAF team, consisting of nine aircraft, will hold a 10-minute air show before the cricket match begins. The aircraft will also conduct a fly past as the National Anthems are sung in the stadium, the officials added.

The Ahmedabad airport has about 43 stands of which 15 have been allocated for non-scheduled flights which include business jet aircraft operations. The remaining parking space is for scheduled flights for which the airport has issued an advisory asking passengers to allocate additional time for travel related formalities and mandatory security protocols.
In view of the closure of Ahmedabad airport’s airspace, Akasa Air has separately issued a travel advisory for passengers informing them of possible delays in flights arriving and departing from Gujarat. The company’s official website reflected that if one chooses not to travel due to the above, they may rebook on an alternate available Akasa flight, at no additional cost, for travel within the next 7 days, by calling our Akasa Care Centre on 91 9606 112131.
In view of today’s ICC World Cup 2023 final match, Ahmedabad’s airport authority has advised passengers in anticipation of heavy road traffic due to fans travelling to the match venue, we recommend that you plan for extra travel time and reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to the departure of your flight.
