The new features have started to roll out globally for uses of WhatsApp Channels which has surpassed 500 million monthly active users.
Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday announced several new features in WhatsApp Channels, like polls, voice updates, share to status and multiple admins. The new features are aimed at enhancing user engagement with the relatively newer product.

Zuckerberg said, “We’re announcing a bunch of new features for WA channels including voice notes, multiple admins and sharing to status and polls, which is great because I need help settling a debate. Seven billion voice messages are sent on WhatsApp daily, so we’re excited to bring this feature to Channels.”

One of the most popular additions is the ability to send voice updates on channels, mirroring the voice messages feature. With voice being a convenient and personal way to communicate for many, bringing voice updates to channels allows channel creators to connect with their audience in a more intimate manner.
Polls are another way for Channels to interact with their followers. Now Channels can create polls that users can vote in, helping channels gather feedback and gauge interest. Moreover, up to 16 admins making it easier to keep people up to date with the latest.
To help Channels expand their reach, users can now share Channel updates to their personal WhatsApp status. This organic sharing can help Channel creators grow their followers. This will allow larger Channels to efficiently manage their community and content.
