What Really Happened

The explosion at the bustling cafe, located in east Bengaluru, occurred around 1 pm during the busy lunch hour when crowds from nearby offices generally line up. “At 1.08 pm today, the fire department received a call about LPG leakage fire in the cafe. When our officers and teams reached the spot, there was no fire or flame.

According to preliminary information, one person came to café just after noon with a bag that he left behind. The person made a payment to the cashier, obtained a token, ate his breakfast and left behind a bag that reportedly contained the explosive.

A bag which was lying behind a woman who was sitting with six other customers at the eatery exploded. It is suspected that the explosion could have been caused due to some object in that bag,” TN Shivashankar, Director of Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services department told a leading News Agency.

The DGP has communicated with chief minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara, briefing them on the incident. Addressing inquiries regarding batteries reportedly found at the scene, he stated that clarity would emerge after a comprehensive examination by the FSL team.
