Remembering her bravery, Modi stated that, My heartfelt tribute to the symbol of bravery of Indian women power, on her birth anniversary, and the story of her courage and sacrifice against the atrocities of foreign rule.

Born on November 19, 1828, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Rani Lakshmibai, also known as the Queen of Jhansi, left an indelible mark on Indian history with her fearless resistance against British colonialism during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Widowed at a young age, she took charge of the princely state of Jhansi and became a beacon of inspiration for her people.

Apart from the Prime Minister of India, Congress leader Kharge also paid tribute to the warrior queen. In his statement, he wrote, ” We will fight so that our future generations can celebrate their freedom….a symbol of unparalleled courage, bravery and unprecedented bravery, who raised the flag against the British rule in the first Indian freedom fight struggle in 1857; we pay our deepest respect to her.”
