The global pursuit of education has witnessed a significant uptick in recent years, with an increasing number of Indian students seeking opportunities abroad.

While studying in foreign countries offers a chance for academic and personal growth, it also comes with its set of challenges, ranging from cultural adjustments to academic pressures and compromised safety.

The data was produced since 2018 due to various reasons including natural causes, accidents and medical conditions, with Canada accounting for the highest 91 fatalities among 34 nations.

According to the information available with the ministry in a written statement released to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan stated the concern.

As per the official data, Canada has reported 91 deaths of Indian students since 2018 followed by the United Kingdom (48), Russia (40), the United States (36), Australia (35), Ukraine (21), Germany (20), Cyprus (14), Italy and the Philippines (10 each).

He further added that, He said the heads of mission/post and senior officials visit universities and educational institutions for regular interactions with Indian students and their associations.

The Indian government’s acknowledgment of these incidents reflects a commitment to transparency and underscores the need for collaborative efforts between governments, educational institutions, and students themselves.
