Since devotees begin to move around 1-2 AM to offer Arghya to the rising sun, it is important to make appropriate lighting arrangements everywhere. Ghat areas along rivers and reservoirs should be cleaned for the Chhath Puja and effective traffic management strategies must be put in place.

Respecting the sentiments of the people, it should be ensured that rivers and reservoirs are not polluted. Public awareness campaigns should be conducted to discourage the use of single-use plastics. Given the tradition of fireworks during the festival, precautions should be taken to avoid setting them off in crowded areas.

Cleanliness has been a long-standing concern during festival celebrations, and the Chief Minister’s call for a new standard underscores the state government’s dedication to improving sanitation practices. The directive includes initiatives such as thorough cleaning of ghats and waterfronts where devotees traditionally gather to perform the rituals.

For security purposes, plain-clothed policemen should be deployed, and there should be an uninterrupted supply of electricity during the festivities. All the entry points to the capital should be decorated to give the entire metropolis, as decorated during the G-20 and GIS, a permanent shape.

The Chief Minister has directed law enforcement agencies to enhance security arrangements at the Chhath Puja venues, with a particular focus on crowd management and the prevention of any untoward incidents. Emergency response teams, including medical units and disaster management teams, will be strategically positioned to address any unforeseen situations promptly.

Regular monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of these initiatives and make necessary adjustments in real-time. To facilitate these efforts, the Chief Minister has called for a task force comprising officials from various departments to work cohesively in implementing the cleanliness and safety measures.
