Despite the ‘A’ rating and longer runtime, trade experts believe that ‘Animal’ has the potential to outperform ‘Sam Bahadur’.
Going by the early estimates, it appears that Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gangster drama has taken a huge lead against Meghna Gulzar’s biographical film.
Ranbir’s film also surpasses the Vicky Kaushal-starrer in terms of advance bookings and projected opening day revenues.
If reports are to be believed then ‘Animal’ has opened like a tsunami, while ‘Sam Bahadur’ has brought a lot of credibility and dignity.
‘Animal’ might have a bigger opening than ‘Sam Bahadur’, but it can get better with good word-of-mouth, thus showing its immense potential at the big screen.
In terms of finance, as per trade analysts, Sandeep Reddy Vanga film will earn more than the Meghna Gulzar directorial. It will have better traction than ‘Sam Bahadur’ because of the genre.
‘Animal’ is a mass-oriented, youth commercial film whereas ‘Sam Bahadur’ is more of a niche pattern movie. The audience for both films will be different and both films have good content to attract a wide audience.
According to early estimates, Ranbir Kapoor’s film is expected to mint Rs 60 crore. Industry experts also suggest that Animal can gross Rs 100 crore worldwide on its first day for all languages.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur is expected to cross Rs 20 crores for the opening day in India and almost Rs. 45 crores in all languages globally.
