The Brahmastra actor was summoned by Directorate of Enforcement (ED) for a scam case linked with online gaming.

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor was summoned by ED in connection with promoting an online betting platform. He is asked to reach Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on October 6 for questioning. According to officials, the actor has been summoned for promoting the Mahadev Book betting app for which is suspected to have received payment in cash.

They stated that the agency had alleged Kapoor received approximately 40 cores INR in cash from the promoters of the app for performing at the wedding of one of the promoters. The Brahmastra actor and several others were present at the wedding and success party of the gaming app promoter Sourabh Chandrakar in UAE, in February this year.
The ED has been probing an online betting case, and several Bollywood actors and singers are under the agency’s scanner for their involvement. Apart from Ranbir, celebs under ED scanner include names like Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Kriti Kharbanda, Nushrat Bharucha, Krishna Abhishek, Elli AvRam, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar, Bharti Singh, Bhagyashree and Pulkit Samrat.
According to reports, he has spent Rs 200 crore on his own wedding, for which he hired an event management company and flew celebrities in private jets to perform at the function. Apart from this, large expenditure in cash is also being done in India for advertising of betting websites to attract new users and franchise seekers.
The main accused was investing heavily in India’s stock market using the foreign portfolio investment route with the help of his associates. It operated by franchising “Panel/Branches” to their known associates on 70-30 per cent profit ratio. The company promoters hail from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
The investigation agency has frozen assets worth Rs 417 crore belonging and used to pay hawala in cash. Mahadev Online Book provides platforms for illegal betting in different live games such as poker and other card games, chance games, cricket, badminton, tennis, football, and others, along with providing an avenue to bet on different elections in India. It also provides a facility to play several card games such as ‘Teen Patti’, poker, ‘Dragon Tiger’, virtual cricket games, and more.
