Safety regulations prioritize the well-being of passengers and crew, compelling airlines to suspend operations when weather conditions pose a risk to flight safety.
In light of Republic Day celebrations, airspace restrictions will be in effect in the national capital from January 19 to 29. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the country’s largest airport handling approximately 1,300 daily flights, has announced that flight operations will remain suspended during this period for a specific duration. The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) officially stated that no flights are permitted to operate at the airport between 10:20 AM and 12:45 PM from January 19 to January 26. Moreover, the landing or take-off of non-scheduled and chartered flights is restricted from 10 AM to 1:15 PM during January 19-25, 2024.

Originally limited to non-scheduled flights with certain exceptions, the updated NOTAM prohibits both scheduled airline and chartered non-scheduled flights from operating between scheduled date and time. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), revising the restrictions.
It is important to note that operations of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), Army aviation helicopters, and state-owned aircraft/helicopters carrying the Governor/Chief Minister of a state remain unaffected by the NOTAM.
Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C Hexagon will experience traffic restrictions from 10.15 AM to 12.30 PM on designated days.
Motorists are advised to follow real-time traffic updates for seamless travel. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recommends passengers plan their journeys considering potential long queues at metro stations during the specified period.
