Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Intelligence Bureau officer Rahul Rasgotra’s appointment as Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief and Anish Dayal Singh has been made the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
1st Female CISF Chief
A 1989-batch IPS officer, Nina Singh currently serves as the Special Director General of CISF, a central paramilitary force that manages airports, Delhi Metro, government buildings and strategic buildings throughout the country.
The officer has been holding the additional charge of CISF DG since the superannuation of Sheel Vardhan Singh on August 31. Singh, who was inducted into the IPS as a Manipur cadre officer, was later moved to the Rajasthan cadre. Singh will remain at the helm till her retirement on July 31, 2024.
Nine Singh has been with the CISF since 2021 and will remain at the helm till her retirement on July 31 next year. The officer hails from Bihar and has studied at the Patna Women’s College, and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
ITBP Chief
Rahul Rasgotra, a 1989-batch IPS officer currently serves as a special director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He has spent nearly three decades in the IB. He has been appointed to the post till September 30, 2025.
The former IB officer has executed key assignments in the IB, including the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal when he was heading the Bihar IB branch, and had also served as Director of Special Protection Group.
The appointment of Rasgotra comes at a time when the paramilitary force will have an additional team of intelligence officers for surveillance and intelligence gathering. At present a special director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), will be the new ITBP chief in place of Anish Dayal Singh.
Civil Defense Chief
Apart from Rasgotra, another senior ‘hardcore’ IB officer Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, will be Director General, Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards.
He has been appointed to the post till June 30, 2025, i.e. the date of his superannuation, the order said. Srivastava is at present a special director in IB.
CRPF Chief
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs headed by Amit Shah, appointed Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief Anish Dayal Singh as the Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Manipur cadre, was holding the additional charge of the CRPF following the retirement of incumbent S L Thaosen on November 30.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Singh’s appointment as DG, CRPF up to December 31, 2024, that is the date of his superannuation, it said.
