In a significant move aimed at benefitting the people of Punjab, the state’s cabinet has given the green light to two transformative schemes. These initiatives have the potential to not only improve the quality of life for the people of Punjab but also stimulate economic growth within the state.

The first, a Pilgrimage Scheme, seeks to make religious travel more accessible for the residents of Punjab. The second, a One-Time Settlement Scheme for traders, is designed to provide relief to traders and businesses by allowing them to clear their pending dues in a more streamlined and efficient manner.
The Punjab cabinet Monday gave nod to a pilgrimage scheme for elderly people and a one-time settlement scheme for traders with tax dues up to Rs 1 lakh. The approval came during a meeting of the council of ministers chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann here.

In view of the coming panchayat elections, Municipal Council elections and the Lok Sabha elections, the AAP government has decided to facilitate travel of people of Punjab to various religious places at the government’s expense. A budget of Rs 40 crore has been set aside for running the scheme.
An agenda item, outlining the scheme, has been prepared by the Transport Department and is expected to be taken up for discussion during the Cabinet meeting. If approved by the Cabinet, the scheme will start from December and pilgrims will be sent to various places of religious interest for all religions, on buses and trains.
