The Miss World competition is happening in India after 28 years and the Renowned Fashion Designer Archana Kochhar has been appointed as the Official Fashion Designer for this mega event.

Mrs Julia Morley, the Chairman and CEO of the Miss World organization stated, “We are thrilled to have one of India’s most talented fashion designers Archana Kochhar as our official fashion designer, her beautiful work really amazes me and it showcases the rich culture and heritage of India”.

Current Miss World Karolina Bielawska had to say, “I was honored to wear a traditional gown created by Archana Kochhar, the official fashion designer for the 71st Miss World festival. The craftsmanship, the colors, and the embroidery details made me feel like I was wearing India’s heritage, I felt like a true Indian princess for a day”.
Archana Kochhar is designing outfits for the grand finale that is going to be held on 9th of March, 2024 at the Jio Conventional Center, in Mumbai, where she would be styling all the winners from 115 countries and territories.
Archana has been working closely with the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s “Make in India” campaign in her various projects such as Banjara, Ahimsa Silk, and Warli. She has showcased these contemporary collections at various international fashion weeks for several seasons.
The contestants from Asia & Oceania will be dressed in a floral printed collection which is made by Ahimsa Silk, a non-violence silk made without killing the silkworm. The prints pay tribute to the indigenous flora and fauna of India while integrating geometric symbols from Mughal Architecture. The collection comprises modern lehengas, stylistic Anarkali, and draped sharara sets.
Contestants from Europe will be dressed in collection which pays homage to the timeless grace of Indian weaves and the different adaptations of these silhouettes. The collection uses hand-woven brocade weaves from Varanasi, handicraft mirror work embroidery from the Kachchh district of Gujarat, handloom Jamdani fabric from Bengal and the tie-dye Bandhani technique from Gujarat.
With delicate pastel hues taking center stage, the 71st Miss World Competition Contestants from Africa will be dressed in meticulously hand-embroidered lehengas and Anarkali sets. The collection uses chikankari embroidery from Lucknow and is embellished with kardana beads, sequins, and stones. The collection’s shades draw attention to the diversity of the female form, in all shapes and sizes, worthy of being celebrated as they are.
Bringing an element of Mumbai to the stage of Miss World, the contestants from the Americas and the Caribbean will be dressed in Bollywood Bling. The collection uses the Indian jewel colors of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald embellished with hand-embroidered sequins and stone work to create an incredible shine on stage.
The ‘India Welcomes the World Gala’ and Opening Ceremony was held at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi on Tuesday, January 27 to kick off the celebrations. The much-awaited 71st Miss World Global Finale will be held on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
