In a culinary landscape that spans the globe, Indian cuisine has proven its mettle by securing a significant presence among the 100 most legendary restaurants worldwide. These esteemed establishments showcase the rich tapestry of flavors, spices, and traditions that define Indian gastronomy.

Taste Atlas, a well-known Croatia-based experimental travel online guide has recently released a list of 100 most iconic restaurants in the world in which six spots are secured by Indian eateries. Many of their verdicts consist of desi dishes and restaurants’ ambience.

  1. Paragon Restaurant And Catering, Kozhikode: The restaurant is legendary for its Biryani, and Taste Atlas says it serves the “most iconic Biryani in the world.” The place is also famous for Malabar chicken biryani and Paneer tikka.

2. Tunday Kebabi, Lucknow: Though established in the year 1905, Tunday Kebabi, Lucknow has a story that dates back to the 17th century. The dish was created by a Khansamah named Haji Murad who was one armed (‘Tunda’). Tunday Kababi is legendary for its Galouti kebab.

3. Peter Cat, Kolkata: This iconic restaurant was founded in the year 1975. Peter Cat is known for its delectable blend of Indian and Continental cuisines. The signature dish of this Kolkata restaurant is Chelo Kebab which is made with flavourful lamb, grilled and served with cooked tomatoes and saffron basmati rice.

Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba, Murthal: Founded in the year 1956 by Sardar Prakash Singh, it used to initially cater to the needs of truck drivers and gradually became popular all over the country. Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba from Murthal, Haryana, legendary for its Aloo Paratha. It is also famous for serving delicious Chole Bhature.

Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR), Bangalore: Established in the year 1924, this vegetarian restaurant is widely popular for their classic tiffin dishes like rava idli, masala dosa, kharabath, filter coffee and chandrahara. The place is best known for its delicious Rava idli and Bisi Bele Bath, which is a rice masala dish.

Karim’s Restaurant, Delhi: Located in the capital city, this restaurant was established in the year 1913. Known for iconic Mughlai food such as biryani and kebabs, the place is legendary for its Mutton korma, a delicious dish in which mutton is slow-cooked with yogurt, spices, and ghee.
