She added that her husband is a patriot and courageous. “My husband true patriot. The way he put his stand in court requires lot of courage,” Sunita Kejriwal said in the video.
Through the WhatsApp number supporters can send messages to the AAP chief, who has been in jail since his arrest last week in the liquor policy case.
“Whatever Arvind Kejriwal said in the court yesterday requires a lot of courage. He is a true patriot. This is how our freedom fighters used to fight the British. I have been with him for thirty years, he has challenged the most corrupt and dictatorial forces. Will you not support your brother and your son in this fight?” she said. “I am giving a WhatsApp number today- 8297324624“.
“Through this campaign, you can give your message on this number. Many people have made a vow for Arvind Ji and are fasting. I will give each of your messages to him in jail. Whichever party you belong to, women, children, elderly, everyone must send a message to this number,” Sunita added.
Notably, this is the third video statement Sunita has posted since the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy case. In a similar video message yesterday, she revealed that her husband is not keeping well in custody.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party minister Atishi on Friday accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the ED to access and jeopardise the AAP strategy for 2024 elections. Earlier on Thursday (Mar 28), the Rouse Avenue court extended Kejriwal’s ED custody till April 1 in the alleged liquor policy scam case.
Special CBI judge Kaveri Baweja issued the order after Kejriwal was produced in court on the expiry of his six days of ED custody. The Delhi High Court also declined any interim relief to Kejriwal and only issued notice on his plea challenging the arrest and remand.
The Delhi CM was arrested on March 21 in the alleged liquor policy scam. His ED custody was extended till April 1 on Thursday. He is the third AAP leader after Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh to be arrested in the same case.
